This Is The Place

This is the place where I spent all the days of my

Youth and it’s burned in my memory

This is the land where the damage was done and when I

Left home the damage left with me

It followed me down into town after town and it

Wove itself into my story

Now I’ve returned and this time it is going to get buried

Now I’ve returned and this time it is going to get buried

I followed a stream through the evergreen trees and I

Fell on my knees by the lake

With the cry of a child who I did not recognize and its

Innocence caused me to shake

As the tears of my past disappeared in the grass, I

Begged for the silence to break

And the silence replied, “I have nothing to hide but your fate.”

And the silence replied, “I have nothing to hide but your fate.”

Since we forgot to count the cost

Who will pay for what’s been lost?

Who’ll remind us why we’re here long after we’ve forgot?

When fathers hide and mothers weep

Who will carry on the dream?

Who will take responsibility?

There is a God and he gave me a heart and he

Told me to use it to love you

With a love that’s so cleansing and pure when it comes you are

Sure that there’s nothing else in you

It taught me to stand and it made me a man who can

Take up the battle before you

And when I lose courage I will choose to remain and continue

And when I lose courage I will choose to remain and continue

Since we forgot to count the cost

Who will pay for what’s been lost?

Who’ll remind us why we’re here long after we’ve forgot?

When fathers hide and mothers weep

Who will carry on the dream?

Who will take responsibility?

When mothers weep and fathers hide

Who will show us wrong from right?

Who will rise and lead us through the night?

In love we will

Not fear what comes

For love has made

A way for us
